PERSON IN RECOVERY/Concept #1

Male | 35 - 45 | Black

Miles has a Substance Use Disorder but has been living in recovery for 10-12 yrs. He has seen himself at the very bottom. He survived that time but understands that it changed him. He’s worked his way back to where he now is a contributing member of society, not only holding down a job, but maintaining a career. He is loved by his wife and two children, and a stable, loving presence in all their lives. He is completely accepting of the fact that his SUD will always be a part of him, but he has maintained his recovery for years, and feels capable of sustaining it in the years to come, through vigilance, honesty, and love.

BRENDA - MOM OF PERSON IN RECOVERY/Concept #2

Female | 50 - 65 | White

Brenda’s a small-town, more rural than suburban. Like many, she has had both triumph and tragedy in her life, and it has hardened her. She is either a widow, or a divorcee; whichever, there’s no husband around - she lives alone. If booked, we’ll need some photos of the actress as a younger person (young adulthood through early middle age) She needs to look REAL, not overly done up.

Female | 35 - 45 | Black or Bi-Racial

Miles’ wife Same age range as Miles. She’s low-key, not overblown and seems like a great Mom and steady wife. Pleasant, natural.

A "man's man" construction worker type. Works with Miles.

2 YOUNG KIDS OF PERSON IN RECOVERY/Concept #1

Female or Male | 5 - 9 | Black or Bi-Racial

Charlotte and Amayah: Miles’ two children, about 5-9 yrs old. Most likely both daughters, but if through the casting process we find a good girl and boy pair, we're open to that. Actual siblings are great, but they can put actors together to play siblings, too.

TERESA - DAUGHTER IN RECOVERY/Concept #2

Female | 25 - 35 | White

Teresa: Brenda’s daughter, who has an Substance Use Disorder. She’s a small town white woman in her late-20s-early-30s. She has lived in recovery for several years and has rebuilt the bridges she has burned with Brenda at the depths of her disease, 6-8 years earlier. If booked, we’ll need numerous childhood & young adulthood photos of the actress to populate frames and other mementos around her house. This person MUST be comfortable with DOGS as she’ll have one as her trusty companion in the spot… And it will likely be a larger breed so anyone allergic to dogs should not audition. If anyone wants to audition WITH their own dog, have at it. We’re looking or more of a medium or large dog that might be a rescue or other, even a cute pit bull type is fine… This gal will be getting out of her car with dog in tow and greeting Mom and giving Mom a hug… natural, REAL looking and probably not a lot of makeup. Alternative looks fine here, tattoos fine, tinted hair and piercings okay too. She CAN be edgy or natural… or together but not model perfect.

TEEN VERSION OF TERESA /Concept #2

This will be Teresa portrayed as a teen, sitting in her room playing guitar or maybe braiding her hair in the bathroom.

Audition Information:

Please respond to the Google Form button below to let us know either way whether you plan on auditioning for this, as well as any conflict dates, etc.
Below are PDFs for your audition. The two principal roles each have their own script/PDF. The third PDF has all the other roles on it, with audition direction/casting notes. It's OK to ad-lib dialogue on the other roles, just following the prompts the directions give you.
SLATE by saying your full name and agency and a full length body shot. And then go into your audition. (Or you can put slate at the end, either way). Keep everything in one video file please.
